Leonard Lewis “Larry” Devine, age 77, died Thursday June 15 at his home in Janesville after a short battle with cancer.  He was born on February 18, 1940 in Jackson County, SD, the son of Thoburn and Freda (Emry) Devine.  After growing up on farms in Wilton, WI, he joined the U.S. Army in 1957, earning his GED, and served as a military policeman until 1959.  He married Virginia Krall on June 30, 1962, and they raised three boys together.  He completed a 36 year career as an U.A.W. assembler/paint repairman at GM of Janesville in 1996.  Widowed, Larry married Donna Wolff Brandenburg on March 16, 2002.  Larry loved activity:  golfing at Glen Erin, motorcycling, powered parachute flying, (after age 65), loving his cars, debating issues of the day, family, friends, and grandchildren.  He enjoyed all Wisconsin sports teams, history, reading mysteries, traveling, and growing  spiritually with his faith family at Cargill United Methodist Church. His faith, spirited attitude, and love will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Janesville;  his children:  Scott, Greg (Christine) of Janesville and Mark (Nicole) of Bonita Springs, Florida, his grandchildren, Taylor, Connor, Steven and Molly Devine, sisters:  Virginia Faulkner of Genoa, IL and Joyce (Dick) Garvoille of Janesville;  his in-laws, Shelva (Richard) Landmark of Sisseton, SD and Cheryl (Jim) Piper of Janesville; numerous and loved nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, sisters Lois and Clara, brothers Glen and Doug, and brother and sisters-in-law.

A funeral service will be held at 3 pm, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Cargill United Methodist Church, 2000 Wesley Avenue, Janesville.  Reverend Susan Lockman will officiate.  A visitation will be held from 1pm until the time of the service.   A private burial will be held at a later time.  Special thanks to Dr. Shekhani, Chris, Joan, and Melanie of the Mercy Oncology Department, and the staff of Agrace Hospice.  Memorials can be made out to Cargill United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.
